Tobacco growers in the Ijevan district, 1959

Tobacco growers. There was a time when tobacco growing flourished in Armenia. The photograph was taken in 1959 in the Ijevan district.

Tobacco leaves are drying on wooden frames set out in long rows. Women and men work between the rows, and huts with gabled roofs stand in the background.
