Vivien Leigh as a child
The British actress Vivien Leigh was considered one of the most attractive actresses of Hollywood’s golden age. Her real name was Vivian Mary Hartley. She was born on 5 November 1913 in India into the family of an English serviceman and was the family’s only child. According to the source, her mother, Gertrude Robinson Yackjee, had French, Irish and Armenian roots. For some time she was a housewife and later acted in a small theatre.
Vivien first appeared on stage at the age of 3, reciting a poem before a performance in which her mother was acting. As a child she loved literature, including Greek mythology, studied music and dance, and decided very early to become a great actress. Behind her fame and success she hid mental and physical health problems.
