The Church of the Holy Mother of God (Red Church), Aksaray
The Armenian Church of the Holy Mother of God (Surb Astvatsatsin), also called the Red Church, was built in the 4th–5th centuries. It stands in Aksaray, Turkey, which according to the source was historically part of Western Armenia and Cilicia.
The photograph was taken from above. Among green fields at the foot of the hills stands the half-ruined church of reddish stone, with a tower-like central part. A winding dirt road, along which a man is walking, leads to the church. Low stone walls and heaps of stones line the road.
