The Village of Voskepar in Tavush

Voskepar is an Armenian village in the Tavush Province. It was founded in the 4th century by the ancestors of the Alaverdyans. The village’s name is linked to the mountain range of the same name, from the words “voske” (golden) and “par” (row, chain).

Voskepar lies on the northern slope of the river of the same name, south of the Voskepar range. To the east, north-east and south-east it is surrounded by forested mountains. Traces of old settlements preserved nearby show that the ancestors of today’s inhabitants moved at least 3 times, each time settling close to the previous site.

The photograph shows green hills, half-ruined stone houses and a small church with a conical dome.
