Saghavart (liturgical crown), 1751

Saghavart (liturgical crown), 1751. Metal, sequins and gold metallic thread on velvet. Gift of Paul and Vicky Bedoukian, collection of the Armenian Museum of America.

The crown is made of dark blue velvet embroidered in gold thread with plant motifs and star-shaped ornaments. At the top there is a metal decorative band and a pierced metal ornament, and an Armenian inscription is embroidered along the lower edge.
