The Armenian boy found in the desert, Aleppo

The photographs show an Armenian boy found in the desert, who had lived for about 2 years far from people, eating only roots, grass and various fruits, without care or even minimal living conditions. When he was found, the child had become completely wild.

The photographs were taken in Aleppo in 1920–1921 by Helen-Marie Gerard, a worker of the American Committee for Relief in the Near East, who later cared for this child.

The image is made up of 5 photographs. The barefoot boy stands or sits on a wooden box by a stone wall; in one of them a woman in white is bending over him.
