Monastery of Saint Stepanos (Darashamb)

The Monastery of Saint Stepanos the Protomartyr, also known as Darashamb, is a 9th-century Armenian monastery. It lies in the historical province of Vaspurakan, now in northern Iran, 18 km south-west of the town of Julfa, on the right bank of the Araks River, in a deep gorge near the abandoned village of Darashamb. The monastery is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The photograph shows the church with its conical dome, the walls and the round towers. Scaffolding surrounds the church. There are trees around it and mountains behind.
