Armenian woodcarving: a carved door

Armenian woodcarving is an art with traditions going back thousands of years.

The photograph shows a wooden door set in an arched stone doorway, entirely covered with carved ornament. In the centre of the door is a cross with a round ornament beneath it, and interlace bands run along the edges. The arched upper part of the door is also carved with interlace.
