Wall paintings of Kobayr Monastery

Kobayr is a medieval Armenian monastery near the town of Tumanyan in the Lori Province of Armenia. It was founded at the end of the 11th century by princesses of the Armenian Kyurikian family.

The photograph shows the semicircular wall of the church with wall paintings. Above are a face with a halo and a cross; below are figures of saints with halos. The wall has arched windows and niches, and in many places the paint has flaked off.
