By the sign of the Avedis Zildjian company

The Avedis Zildjian company is the largest American manufacturer of drum cymbals. It was founded in Constantinople by the Armenian Avedis Zildjian in 1623. Today the company is based in Norwell, Massachusetts, USA. Its history spans almost 400 years, and it is one of the oldest companies in the world. According to the source, the name Zildjian was formed from the Armenian word “zil” and the suffix “-ci”, which adds the meaning “maker” or “master”.
