Little Princess Lazarian, Tiflis, 1890

A photograph of the little Princess Lazarian. According to the source, she is the daughter of Prince Semyon Semyonovich Abamelik-Lazarev (1857–1916), a Russian industrialist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, born to Prince Semyon Davidovich Abamelik, a member of an aristocratic Armenian family, and Princess Elizaveta Khristoforovna Abamelik, née Lazarian (1832–1904). In 1873 his maternal grandfather, Khristofor Ekimovich Lazarian, an industrialist and the last member of the millionaire Lazarian family, died, and by imperial decree the Lazarian surname was joined to that of the Abamelik princes.

Photographer: Dmitri Ermakov, Tiflis, 1890. The girl stands in a studio in national costume: a small cap with tassels and a long veil falling down her back, a dark fur-trimmed overgarment and a blouse with wide sleeves.
