The Mankikian children with their nanny, Odesa, 1910s
A photograph from the archive of the Ter-Petrosyan family. It was taken in Odesa in the 1910s. It shows the Mankikian children – Kirkor, Hripsime, Gayane, Tigran and others – with their nanny.
Five children and the nanny stand in the street by a tree. The eldest boy wears a uniform cap and a long double-breasted coat. Behind them is a multi-storey building with shops and Russian-language signs; on the left is a horse-drawn cart.
