Village women at Tatev Monastery, 1970
The photograph was taken on 1 May 1970. Peasant women from mountain villages, in national costume, stand by the walls of Tatev Monastery, built between the 9th and 17th centuries.
One of the women is seated, the other stands beside her. Both wear long blue dresses and long dark headscarves; the seated woman’s mouth is covered with a white cloth. Behind them are carved stone walls.
