Evgenya Muradyan, model for the Mother Armenia monument

The face of the Mother Armenia monument, which has become a symbol of Yerevan, belongs to a young Armenian woman, Evgenya Muradyan. The sculptor Ara Harutyunyan noticed her by chance, and her gaze and features became the inspiration for the statue's image. At first the offer to pose as a model was refused, but with her family's support Evgenya became the prototype of the monument. Today Mother Armenia is a symbol of national strength, dignity and resilience.
