An Armenian family that survived the Genocide

This photograph shows an Armenian family that miraculously survived the Genocide. There are 7 people in the frame, representing different generations: parents, children and young people. In front sit a woman and an elderly man; between them stands a boy in a jacket and short trousers, and behind them stand a man with a moustache, two girls and a young man. The men wear suits and ties.

Pain, silence and the will to live are mingled on their faces. The image speaks of resilience born out of loss and of a quiet hope for the future.
