Plate commemorating the Allied victory, 1919
The picture shows a souvenir plate made in the United States in 1919 and dedicated to the Allied powers victorious in the First World War. In the centre are portraits of five men surrounded by flags; around the rim are flags of various countries and English inscriptions, among them “Victory”, “Liberty” and “Democracy”; at the bottom is a map.
According to the source, on this souvenir the Republic of Armenia is represented as an Allied state that fought in 1918 against the Ottoman Empire and its allies. On the map Armenia is shown in its national tricolour and within the borders of a united Armenia, with a “sea to sea” territory marked in red which, according to the source, corresponded to the decisions of the Paris Peace Conference. The source also states that of the three Transcaucasian republics only Armenia had the status of an Allied state.
