Bronze quiver of King Sarduri II

A bronze quiver from Urartu (the Kingdom of Van). The source dates it to the 9th–6th centuries BC. It was found during excavations at Teishebaini (Karmir Blur, Armenia) and belonged to King Sarduri II (reigned c. 764–735 BC).

The quiver is made of bronze in repoussé technique. Its surface is decorated with several rows of images separated by ornamental bands: horses and chariots can be seen, reflecting the military themes of Urartian art. At the top is a metal ring.

One of these quivers of Sarduri II is kept today in the State Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, and two others in the National History Museum of Armenia.
