The Aslantaş rock-cut tomb
The Aslantaş rock-cut tomb is a Phrygian monument near the city of Afyonkarahisar in present-day Turkey. It is thought to date from the 7th century BC.
Its façade shows two standing lions facing each other, with lion cubs at their feet. Above the entrance is a design resembling a tree of life, crowned by a winged sun disc that spreads out to both sides. It reflects the artistic and symbolic traditions of Phrygian culture.
The photograph shows the small rectangular entrance cut into the rock and the large lions carved into the rock on either side of it.
