Statue of Mkhitar Gosh
Mkhitar Gosh was an outstanding Armenian thinker, jurist and clergyman. He is known as the author of the first Armenian law code, the Law Code of Mkhitar Gosh, which became the basis of Armenia’s legal system and influenced the legislation of other countries of the region. His works also helped preserve Armenian culture during periods of foreign rule.
The photograph shows his stone statue in a long cloak, with one hand resting on a book. Behind it is a wall of dressed stone.
