General Movses Silikyan

General Movses Silikyan, hero of the Battle of Sardarapat. In the photograph he wears a military uniform and a peaked cap, with a cross-shaped decoration on his chest.

The Battle of Sardarapat was a battle on the Caucasus front of the First World War, fought on 21–28 May 1918 near Sardarapat railway station. On one side were Armenian regular units and militia volunteers, on the other the Ottoman troops that had invaded Eastern Armenia.
