Hamazasp Babajanyan at a parade, 1965

The commander of the Odessa Military District, Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Hamazasp Khachaturi Babajanyan reviews the parade units, Moscow, 9 May 1965.

He was the only marshal of armoured troops under whose command the USSR entered Berlin and brought fascism to its knees.

The image is made up of two photographs. In both, Babajanyan stands in an open car and gives a military salute. In the upper photograph there are ranks of servicemen and a multi-storey building behind, and in the lower one lined-up troops and a church with onion domes.
