Statue of King Gagik I from Ani

The 2-metre statue of King Gagik I of Armenia (died 1020), found during excavations at Ani. The statue once held a model of a church in its hands.

The king is shown with a large turban, a long beard and a long robe. Both hands are stretched forward; the model is not visible in this photograph.
