Movses Khorenatsi, “the father of Armenian historiography”. The painting is by the 18th-century artist Hovnatan Hovnatanian.

The historian is shown with a white beard, a halo and a dark cloak, seated at a table. He holds a pen in his right hand; before him lies an open book with Armenian lines, and beside it an inkwell with another pen. The inscription at the top reads “Saint Movses Khorenatsi”.
