A miniature by Toros Roslin

The author of this splendid, richly coloured miniature is Toros Roslin (1260, Cilicia). It is kept in the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

In the centre the Mother of God sits on a throne with the infant Jesus in her lap. On the right a kneeling old man and other people bring gifts; above are angels and a star. The lower section shows the bathing of the child. The background is golden and the frame blue.
