Komitas with students of the Gevorgian Seminary, 1905
The photograph shows Komitas Vardapet with his students of the Gevorgian Theological Seminary. It was taken in April 1905 in Kojor.
The group of about 60 people stands in front of a grassy slope. The students are boys and young men of different ages in identical belted tunics. In the centre stands a vardapet in black clerical dress and a hood; several others wear black caps.
According to the source, Komitas was also a teacher in those years, and under his guidance the seminary students studied Armenian sacred and folk song, language and history.
