General Andranik in Marseille, 1921

A rare photograph of Andranik Ozanian taken in Marseille (France) in 1921.

Andranik Toros Ozanian was one of the leaders of the Armenian national liberation movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a national hero of the Armenian people. He is also known as Zoravar Andranik, General Andranik and Andranik Pasha. On 23 January 1918 he received the rank of major general.

In the centre stands a man in a fur hat and a military uniform with decorations. Around him on the stone paving stand seven adults and a little girl with a bouquet; the man on the far right wears a white chokha and a dagger.
